Being made an executor is a job offer nobody interviews for. The packet is what makes it survivable: a plain index of what exists, where it is, and what the first fortnight looks like.

Why does it require a will?
The packet indexes the documents in your plan and the roles you appointed. Without a will there is no executor and nothing to index, so the checkout asks you to add the will first.
How is it different from the executor organizer?
The organizer is a free worksheet you fill in, listing accounts and contacts. The handoff packet is generated from your plan and tells your executor what documents exist, where the original will is, and what the first steps are.
Should my executor read it now?
Yes. The worst time to hand somebody a new job is the day of a funeral.
Does it list my passwords?
No. It records where a password manager is and who can reach it, which is the safe version of the same information.
Does it change when my plan changes?
Regenerate it after a change and give your executor the new copy. The packet is only as current as the last time you produced it.
